Charitable Giving Policy
 
The Rotary Club of Bangor gives to a number of charities each year. All recipients are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.
There are three processes used by the club to award financial support.
 
1.    Funds from our annual fundraiser "Music Off Broadway" are given to local nonprofits through an RFP process that runs in the summer of each year. The money is raised by Music Off Broadway and donated through the RFP process. Each year 25 to 30 applications are received and money is awarded to between 3 and 6 organizations.  Approximately $10,000 annually is donated using this process. The RFP is announced via the media, sent out by Rotarians, posted on the web site, and through nonprofit agencies such as the United Way, Maine Association of Nonprofits and the Maine Philanthropy Center.
 
2.      Annual funding to the United Way of Eastern Maine , Bangor East Little League, Bangor West Little League, YMCA Camp Jordan and the Bangor Region Leadership Institute. About $4,600 is given away annually in this process, as a long term commitment to the community.
